LJT takes part in an advertising and marketing law conference hosted by the Canadian Institute

 

Last March 25th and 26th was held in Montreal the Canadian Institute’s “Conférence sur le droit de la publicité et du marketing” co-chaired by Robert Legault. Pierre Savoie, a co-speaker in the presentation “Les déclarations environnementales: attention si le gazon est toujours plus vert chez vous que chez le voisin”, addressed the issue of environmental claims or “green marketing”. This phenomenon which is becoming more and more widespread raises several legal issues, especially since the adoption by the Competition Bureau of Canada of the Guide for industry and advertisers.
 
Danielle Dicaire helped to demystify the “Errors & Omissions” insurance policies, in particular in respect of formalities surrounding the issuance of such insurance for film or television program producers.
 
Finally, Mr. Legault addressed, together with Nathalie Jackson from the Office de la protection du consommateur and other speakers, the legal consequences of false and comparative advertising and of children’s advertising, examining the specificities of Quebec’s current advertising legislation.
